Goodnight everyone and have a sincere, romantic weekend

It's Friday night. Time to unwind with our regular Friday night feature on This Just In.

The weekend has finally arrived.

The sun has set.

The evening sky has erupted.

Let's put controversy and provocative blogs aside for the rest of this work week and smooth our way into Saturday and Sunday.

Tonight, her bio calls her "An extraordinarily gifted jazz vocalist whose sincere and romantic interpretations of exceptional songs has made her a favorite in both the jazz and cabaret worlds."

She's 32-year old Jane Monheit

Live at the Rainbow Room

Jane Monheit grew up in Oakdale, Long Island and sang about the time she began talking. Like so many musical artists today, Monheit came from a musical family. .her aunt and grandmother were professional singers, her brother was a rock guitarist, her father was a banjo player, and her mother was involved in musical theater. She grew up listening to and loving jazz records and played the clarinet in school.

When she was 20, Monheit was the first runner-up in the 1998 Theolonius Monk Institute vocal competition. She won a $10,000 scholarship. Two years later, Monheit was considered along with Diana Krall to be one of the highest acclaimed female jazz vocalists. She has released several albums, her latest coming just last month entitled, “Home,” a coalition of standards.

From the wonderful American Songbook, a classic standard written by George and Ira Gershwin and introduced to the world by Fred Astaire in the 1937 film Shall We Dance

Unfortunately, Jane Monheit’s tour schedule does not include any future Wisconsin stops.

Hope that changes.

That’s it for this week’s segment.

Goodnight.

Sleep well.

Have a great weekend.

Did somebody say……

Encore?
