Who could that be getting sand kicked in his face?

Why, it's none other than Franklin alderman Steve Taylor, La Crosse's gain, Franklin's loss.
 

While preparing his re-election campaign literature a few weeks ago (I always voted against Steve Olson and for leashes on horses), the "I know best" member of Franklin's Common Council thought he really pulled off a good one. He lobbied for, and got, passage of a resolution to put a referendum on the November ballot about a full-time mayor. Taylor wants to be mayor so bad he can taste it.

So, instead of the Franklin aldermen canvassing their own districts via door-to-door or e-mail newsletters we're stuck with a useless, meaningless question on the ballot.

GOTCHA, thought Alderman Taylor.

But what happens if Taylor is relegated to wiping an omelet the size of one served at Greek restaurant off his face when voters reject his calculated plan? 

There are three online polls about a full-time Franklin mayor. These are certainly not scientific, but I believe they do fairly capture the mood of the Franklin electorate about growing government when private sector jobs are disappearing, a fact that seems to be lost on the good alderman.

Gee, those results don't look very good for Alderman Taylor. Oh boy. That has to hurt. Could it be that Mr. La Crosse is out of touch with Franklin?

If I were the gotta leash every animal that moves Steve Taylor, I'd worry about my own aldermanic seat before I had visions of moving into City Hall full-time.
